MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDING PRESIDENT

Welcome to the Anambra State Association, USA (ASA-USA) website. I hope that by the time you are done browsing through the site, you will clearly see the reason for the necessity, formation, and strong existence of the Association, and will see them to be very cogent, thoughtful and encouraging; and hopefully work with us by supporting our programs and objectives in any possible manner. ASA-USA is the umbrella organization and the mouthpiece of all the Anambra State indigenes of Nigeria resident in the United States of America. The idea of ASA-USA started in April 2001 in response to the cries for help from our people back home due to the sordid state of affairs prevalent in Anambra State, primarily emanating from corruption and mismanagement by politicians and political forces. After extensive consultations among our people in USA, this idea officially became a reality during a Face to Face meeting of Ndi Anambra from all parts of the United States held in Dallas on October 25, 2001. At that meeting, it was resolved that ASA-USA will be a non-profit, non-partisan Association that is fully dedicated to the betterment of Anambra State of Nigeria through promoting and ensuring good political governance and by finding genuine and lasting solutions to the myriad of socio-economic, political, educational and healthcare problems engulfing our home State, and her people as a result of their total neglect and mismanagement by the governing bodies.

To this end, the Association has since it's inception engaged in, and undertaking various activities, including the release of a number of Press Releases here and in Nigeria news media, organization of public protests and demonstrations, holding of conferences and conventions with political/government leaders of Anambra State, speaking out on vital issues through the mass media (newspapers, internet, radio/TV, etc), and other matters, all with a view to addressing and finding real solutions to these problems. So far, we have done substantially well as those in leadership positions are listening, while those Godfathers and corrupt politicians who see our state as an investment corporation are gradually being confronted and exposed.

ASA-USA does most of it's day to day businesses through interactive Internet discussions which are open to all members through subscription to the group's forum. You can accomplish this by sending your email address to the ASA-USA's Executives, or by subscribing directly to: asa-usa@yahoogroups.com for daily updates of events back home. This site is also intended to be an Information Resource Center for those who want to know more about this organization, the current developments in our home State, the economic and investment opportunities in Anambra State, the Welfare and Businesses of Ndi Anambra in United States. We encourage you to browse through the sections of our Constitution dealing with Membership to see how you can join ASA-USA. I urge you to join us in fighting injustice, corruption, indiscipline, political godfatherism, mismanagement and misrule, human rights violations and political harassments perpetrated for so long against our people by those in the leadership in Anambra.
In our determination to get to all Anambrarians and all Igbos, we have added a databased website to enable us coordinate activities with all Town Unions in North America as well as all Igbo Unions in Nigeria. Please visit the site at
http://www.asausatowns.org and browse through the pages.
Please, as you go through these sites, I want you to bear in mind that it is continuously updated and your suggestions for improvement are always welcome. Anambra State shall really be well and we want you to be part of the solution in making our home a better place for all of us and for our children. Let's face it, wouldn't you want to live in Anambra State if everything you want is there. I am sure the answer is YES. Please let us work towards that goal. Together, We Shall Overcome.

Sincerely,

Prince Jimmy E. Asiegbu
Founding President
